Kenneth Jones, a 20-year veteran of the industry and former flooring manager, said he has started a new Green consulting company for flooring professionals. The company focuses on domestic businesses, including sourcing contractors and project firms within the U.S.
Jones said that with the U.S. dollar weakening, it is more important than ever for companies to consider buying their products from online markets. “Shipping direct to jobsite is the most overlooked segment of the business,” Jones said. “We find ourselves in a position where the U.S. dollar is weak, economy is stressed and homes are not selling, yet we also have the best manufacturers for types of flooring and certain products like "GREEN" materials." He said his company’s focus on the direct marketing business arena sets them apart from other consulting firms.
“I’m trying to make this company broader than just one person’s expertise,” Jones said. “I’m in the process of contacting several people about joining the team. By bringing several faculty members under one roof, we will be able to give our clients better direction. We would also affiliate ourselves with as many as 10 other companies to fill in any areas outside of our expertise.”
Though the company just reopened its doors with a new logo and showroom the floor covering business already hears him coming and customers are signing up for the planroom with over 45 major vendors and a new design center.
Jones said he expects that the floor covering industry will be ready and full steam ahead for remodels geared up by summer 2009 and a full recovery by 2011. “This is the kind of thing I look at and say I’ve been training for this position for 20 years,” he said. “I’m ready to have some fun doing it.” Jones says he will be ahead and postioned better than all other flooring online stores or discount stores.
